What is Omega-3

Your body is a powerful and complex machine. But it’s incapable of producing its own Omega-3s, the fatty acids needed to keep your cogwheels turning. That’s why fish is on the menu.

But since our modern lifestyle and eating habits are changing, Omega-3 deficiency is quickly becoming a world health problem. We dont eat enough fish, and the fish on your plate doesn’t contain the levels of omega-3 needed by your body. That is why supplements are highly recommended. With a daily intake of Ballstad Omega-3, you are investing in a healthy lifestyle, strengthening your body and mind for a long and active life.

“A daily intake of Ballstad Omega-3 leads to better health and a better life. Through sharing our knowledge about the health benefits of Omega-3, we empower our followers to make positive changes in their lives. We believe that you can change your life for the better and realize your true potential.”

Omega-3 is considered an essential fatty acid. These types of fatty acids are not produced by your body, but are essential to your well-being and development. So they must be consumed in food or through supplements. Each cell in our body is surrounded by a cell membrane. The cell membrane is comprised primarily of fatty acids. The membrane regulates what nutrients get into the cell, and what waste products get removed. Cells without healthy membranes lose their fluidity, integrity, and ability to communicate with other cells, which can lead to health problems. Omega-3 allows the cell membrane to remain fluid and healthy. It also helps your body to control inflammation, blood-clotting, stress and promotes brain development.

The many health benefits of long term consumption of sufficient amounts of quality Omega-3 is well documented, and we want the world to know. It is our mission to educate all our followers, so that they can make smart health decisions based on scientifically supported evidence.

Evidence from over 30,000 studies conducted on EPA and DHA indicate they play important roles throughout the body positively influencing structural components of cell membranes.

How much omega-3 do I need?

This is one of the first questions people tend to ask, and the most difficult one to answer.
There isn’t a universal consensus on EPA and DHA dosage, and recommended daily intake of omega-3s has not been scientifically established in the same way as with nutrients like vitamin C or calcium. Health experts typically suggest daily intakes based on a person’s stage of life, health status, nutritional profile, and what the research shows. But one thing is true for everyone: omega-3 is a key component to cellular health, and thus fundamental to optimal health across your lifespan.

What are EPA and DHA

EPA and DHA have been consistently shown to be the most beneficial fatty acids in thousands of published studies. Even though they are often mentioned together, they impact your body in very different ways. EPA is an inhibitor of cellular inflammation in your body. It is also key for reducing neuro-inflammation in the brain. This is why all the research on depression, ADHD, brain trauma, etc. have demonstrated EPA to be superior to DHA.

DHA helps keep the cell membranes fluid, healthy and flexible. This in turn increases the transmission of signals from the surface of the membrane to the interior of the cells, and communication between cells.

Fish is the primary source of Omega-3’s EPA and DHA, but people simply don’t eat enough fish on a regular basis. Even those who eat fish several times a week aren’t getting enough EPA and DHA because much of the fish consumed today is farm raised and lacks significant amounts of EPA and DHA. Also, many people are increasingly avoiding fish due to growing concerns about environmental toxins in fish, such as mercury, dioxins, and PCBs. Ballstad Omega-3 fish oil goes through a careful multistep molecular distillation and filtration process where the oil is refined down to an Omega-3 concentrate, free of heavy metals and contaminants, resulting in an almost tasteless and odourless high-quality oil with concentrated levels of EPA and DHA.
